SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS MASSACHUSETTS CHAPTER
Join the Society of Women Environmental Professionals, Massachusetts Chapter (SWEP-MA) for a crafting networking event in advance of the holiday season.
Join us on Wednesday November 11, 6:30-9 PM at Mystic Open Studio, 785 Mass Ave in Arlington as we explore the art of handwoven tapestry in this beginner-friendly workshop. Learn the basics of rya knotting, soumak and simple tapestry stitches while creating your own small, textured piece. Experiment with color, texture and fiber as you discover the creative possibilities of weaving.
At the end of the event, you will have a small tapestry to bring home. The cost for members is $35 and non-members are $45. Space is limited so sign up now. **REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 5PM ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4.**
The doors will open at 6:30 and we will start with a brief introduction before beginning work on our tapestries. The instructor will be available for assistance throughout the event and all materials will be provided, but please bring yarns or other items (natural materials, found objects, etc.) that you might like to incorporate into your work. We will enjoy tea, cookies and good company as we work on our tapestries. We have the space for up to 2.5 hours so there will be plenty of time for socializing if you would like.

Free street parking is available on Mass Ave outside Mystic Open Studio or further down the street.
SWEP-MA will provide light snacks. Although dinner is not provided, you are welcome to bring food, and there is a Whole Foods and nearby restaurants, including José's Torta Mexicana at 793 Mass Ave. Please let us know if you have any food allergies and we will try to accommodate them.
