SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS MASSACHUSETTS CHAPTER
Greater Boston has been a center of liquid innovation for three hundred years, whether as a hub of American rum production, the birthplace of the ice industry, or the stomping grounds of a slew of original cocktails for the 1840s to the present.
Local historian Brian D Hoefling, founder of the Herzog Cocktail School and author of three books on spirits and cocktails, will join SWEP-MA to give a lecture on the grand sweep of the city's mixed-drink history. For those who'd like to follow along at home, he will also give a hands-on demonstration of two cocktails, the Ward Eight and the Periodista, which respectively defined Boston's mixological zeitgeist at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
A shopping list and recipes will be provided for those who register and would like to follow along, as well as tools with reasonable substitution options.
